Beginner’s Meeting 13.10.06 The first beginner’s meeting of the season was attended by 17 members and visitors. After a brief introduction everyone proceeded to the field. Full advantage was taken of the clear sky and five telescopes were in use. The planet Uranus was located although Neptune proved more difficult to confirm as sighted. A green laser pointer was particularly useful in picking out the outline of constellations and locating binocular and telescope objects for beginners. Further telescope targets included M57 (Ring Nebula), M27 (Dumbbell), M31 (Andromeda galaxy) along with its companions M32 and M101, double star Albireo, the Double Cluster in Perseus and the Pleiades.
