Main Item: Lee MacDonald (Newbury AS) “Observing the Sun” Mr MacDonald has written a book on this subject and demonstrated his knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm. His talk was accompanied by some remarkable close-up images taken by Lee himself in visible and H alpha light. Questions followed and a vote of thanks was given by the Chairman. Coffee What’s Up?: Bob Trevan included the times of the forthcoming Total Eclipse of the Moon on March 3rd. It was decided to make this a public observing event. The Messier Marathon was also planned for either 16th or 17th March some discussion was given to the requirements for this. The chairman is to send an e-mail listing these. News: The Chairman reported a collection of news items gleaned from the web and other sources. Discussion was included. Admin: John Stapleton reported on his attending the recent SAGAS meeting. Neil Perry has surplus pairs of binoculars for sale.
